Type: Police Report

A transcription of the August 13, 1960 report submitted by California Highway Patrol officers Charles A. Carson and Stanley B. Scott. The officers described seeing an object that initially appeared to be an aircraft descending toward the ground. They reported that it moved silently, reversed direction, climbed and hovered, with red lights at either end and several white lights between them. This is a key contemporary account of the encounter, documenting what the officers reported rather than independently proving the object's nature.
