On April 16, 2002, two witnesses in Byram, New Jersey reported observing a particularly bright object that appeared to move slightly while remaining in approximately the same area of the sky. One witness retrieved a video recorder and recorded the object for approximately 10 minutes, using up to 32x zoom. The witness reported that the object appeared to grow and shrink or pulse on the recording. The witnesses stated that they also filmed their house and distant lights as references and that a police report was made later that evening. The original NUFORC report does not establish what the recorded object was.
