W. L. Ducker

W. L. Ducker was head of the petroleum engineering department at Texas Technological College and was the third member of the original trio.

Ducker's importance goes beyond simply being present during the first observation. He remained involved in the subsequent discussion and investigation of the Lubbock Lights.

Interestingly, Ducker later took a more cautious position than some UFO accounts suggest. A contemporary newspaper report quoted him as saying that the group had never attempted to say what they had seen—only that they had seen something. He emphasized that determining its identity would require actually getting evidence of the phenomenon itself.

There's also a related sighting involving Ducker's wife, who reported seeing a large, silent flying-wing-shaped object over her house in August 1951. That appears to be a separate observation and shouldn't be attributed to Ducker himself.
