John G. Murphy

United States Army officer

Colonel John G. Murphy was a United States Army officer who witnessed the February 25, 1942 Battle of Los Angeles and participated in the subsequent investigation. Murphy later published an account of the incident in the Antiaircraft Journal in 1949. His assessment attributed the reported aerial targets to meteorological balloons, making his account an important military perspective on the event and a significant alternative to interpretations involving an unidentified craft.
